The Issue

The world population of bees is decreasing at an alarming rate due to climate change, pesticides, loss of habitat and new diseases. Bees play a pivotal role in maintaining and protecting natural ecosystems and biodiversity contributing to the overall wellbeing of our environment. Birks has made it its mission to spread awareness to the cause as well as partner with Canadian organizations to ensure the longevity of Canada’s world-renowned natural environment.

Help Save the Bees

• Say goodbye to pesticides, herbicides and insecticides. These toxic substances endanger the lives of bees.

• Let your garden grow wild with bee friendly flowers. Bees prefer a garden, which is similar to their natural habitat – a meadow. Avoid hybrid flowers and plant flowers in patches. Bees like to focus on one flower type at a time.

• Shop responsibly and support local farmers. The more you can support sustainable, eco-friendly farming that avoids pesticides, the better.

• Spread the word: educate yourself and your loved ones on the importance of bees and share these useful tips.
